My mom and I currently rewatching ER and boy are there a lot of OUaT actors who appeared in it.
Eion Bailey
Raphael Sbarge
Gil McKinney
Elizabeth Mitchell
Abraham Benrubi
Alan Dale
Michael Raymond-James
(and Eriq LaSalle who directed an episode of OUaT)
That's just who I remember seeing and we are on S12 so there may be more.

Eion Bailey and Raphael Sbarge were in the same ep (though they didn't have screen time together) and I was calling them Pinocchio and Jiminy Cricket as I was telling my mom what was going on. lol!

I did indeed get the quilt pinned on Sunday, and finished by about Wednesday, and Teddy's new clothes finished yesterday, with . Photos on Tumblr. Nibling #1 has seen a photo and says he looks cool.

Also van repair news - my van has been out of action for quite a while because the tailgate would not latch - the opposite of the usual T5 tailgate-latch problem, which is it not un-latching; various forums are full of people whose tailgates have a lot more trim than mine (read: any; it may be a little silly to still call it a builders’ van when I’ve owned it longer than the builders did, but hey ho) bemoaning the difficulty in getting to the mechanism to unjam it.

Of course it did this on a freezing cold afternoon as it was starting to rain, and no-one seemed to have any ready answers (or even be having this problem), and I could not for the life of me find the tailgate section in the workshop manual, so we ratchet-strapped it down to the internal tie-downs and put the kettle on. And after that, the evenings were dark and frequently rainy, and frankly, I did not want to.

But yesterday I finally got somewhere; firstly, it turns out that the workshop manual refers to the tailgate as the ‘rear lid’ which is a new one on me. And secondly, when I went out, armed with a bit more knowledge of what I was looking at, I discovered this was not some arcane problem inside the lock mechanism, it was the fact that a small piece of broken tail-light plastic was lodged behind the catch. Thumb for scale (also on Tumblr).

Writing-wise, I got a bit stalled on the not-actually-concussion scene (my last note:"ohhhh he is actually having a meltdown about his loop 1 experiences in this regard") realised it probably wasn't flowing because I'd skimmed over Guaeth's reaction to the previous scene (mostly that reaction is 'trying very hard not to think about it' - but still.) So, not much progress there.

Otherwise, eh, I don't know. Plodding along, singing a song.

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

Blurb:
Far beneath the surface of the earth, upon the shores of the Starless Sea, there is a labyrinthine collection of tunnels and rooms filled with stories. The entryways that lead to this sanctuary are often hidden, sometimes on forest floors, sometimes in private homes, sometimes in plain sight. But those who seek will find. Their doors have been waiting for them.

Zachary Ezra Rawlins is searching for his door, though he does not know it. He follows a silent siren song, an inexplicable knowledge that he is meant for another place. When he discovers a mysterious book in the stacks of his campus library he begins to read, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, lost cities, and nameless acolytes. Suddenly a turn of the page brings Zachary to a story from his own childhood impossibly written in this book that is older than he is.

A bee, a key, and a sword emblazoned on the book lead Zachary to two people who will change the course of his life: Mirabel, a fierce, pink-haired painter, and Dorian, a handsome, barefoot man with shifting alliances. These strangers guide Zachary through masquerade party dances and whispered back room stories to the headquarters of a secret society where doorknobs hang from ribbons, and finally through a door conjured from paint to the place he has always yearned for. Amid twisting tunnels filled with books, gilded ballrooms, and wine-dark shores Zachary falls into an intoxicating world soaked in romance and mystery. But a battle is raging over the fate of this place and though there are those who would willingly sacrifice everything to protect it, there are just as many intent on its destruction. As Zachary, Mirabel, and Dorian venture deeper into the space and its histories and myths, searching for answers and each other, a timeless love story unspools, casting a spell of pirates, painters, lovers, liars, and ships that sail upon a Starless Sea.

I found myself in tears by the end of this book, although I couldn't say why. Maybe because it was ending. A gorgeous, gorgeous story, full of lovely moments that took my breath away.

This is from a reviewer on Goodreads who hated the book:
The Starless Sea is a book written for true readers. I’m talking about the kind of person who spent their childhood in and out of libraries and bookshops; the kind of person who sits and imagines adventure and an escape from the mundaneness of every single endless day without magic: the kind of person who lives for books and reading.

That pretty much describes my entire childhood, so yes, I loved this book.

However, I understand why it would not work for some people - the story twists on itself, and requires a *lot* of attention to what has happened in previous chapters.

More than a year after writing it, we've finally reached the point in our schedule where I can start posting my next Matthew story, Fish or Cut Bait.

Title: Fish or Cut Bait
Summary: A new case with a personal connection to Diana Chase takes the team to a town Matthew called home a century ago. There, with Diana closely involved in the investigation, he must also determine how Talbot's newfound knowledge of his Immortality will affect their partnership and his position within the FBI.
Rating: G for now. Probably up to a T later.
Word Count: ~43,000 (when complete)
Tags: Casefic, Canon Typical Violence, Other Additional Tags to be Added

I'm ridiculously excited about this story, in part because of how long it's been waiting. I hope you all enjoy it too.

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.
